The news has been circulating about them since early June but finally, Ceres-Negros FC broke their silence through their official statement released on their Facebook page and their website.
The three-time Philippines Football League champion and the defending Copa Paulino Alcantara winners are about to see a major overhaul once the new management and owners take over.
In their statement, it is stated that they are currently in talks with investors who will be taking over the management and ownership of the club in preparation for the fourth season of the PFL presented by Qatar Airways as well as the resumption of their campaign in the AFC Cup.
The club also said, ” As soon as the takeover is completed, the club will no longer be known as Ceres-Negros since our current chairman Leo Rey Yanson will not be involved in any way in the affairs of the club. This is one of the toughest decisions made by Mr. Yanson, whose passion for football was reflected at the way he poured his personal resources and steered the club to unprecedented heights since it was formed eight years ago.”
The announcement of the club’s new name and owners are to be expected soon. As of the moment, Ace Bright, the general manager of the club, will be the point person with regards to the planned takeover as well as the transition to the new management and owners of the club.
A book might close for now but expect that a new one will come out with more stories to tell.
